Wow, the holiday season took off right after Halloween and it keeps on picking up speed. We spent Thanksgiving with our daughter’s family in Maryland and took in the Vermeer show at the National Gallery. I also got to make pies and turnovers with our older granddaughter on Wednesday and we took both girls to the movies on Friday.
Tours and Lectures
When we came back, I gave a private Boston By Foot Back Bay tour for a family with multiple holiday guests. We had a great time on a warm sunny afternoon. The following week I attended a lecture on the Cocoanut Grove fire of 1942 by Stephanie Schorow, author of “Boston on Fire” followed by a screening of “Six Locked Doors,” a new film on the tragedy by Zachary Graves-Miller.
I wrote a brand new short story, “The Last Layoff,” that my writing group will critique in January as well as a new chapter for the second draft of the novel I have been working on forever.
Writing and Parties
The first holiday party came on Saturday and I have two more this Sunday (but can only attend one). I’d be quadruple-booked if I had time to participate in the annual Messiah Sing in Sudbury. For various events, I have baked molasses spice cookies, Toll House cookies and a chocolate malted Bundt cake with crushed candy canes on top. I have more baking planned for the parties coming up.
Roundup of November 2017 Posts
Somehow Susanne and I managed to complete blog posts across a range of topics. If your holiday season is shaping up to be as busy as mine, here’s the roundup of November 2017 posts to keep you up to date. Please feel free to share anything you like with friends and family.
