In the recently released tranche of documents about how Donald Trump knew Ghislaine Maxwell was “poaching” children from their jobs at Mar-a-Lago, no one seems to be asking one simple question: What they were doing in the President’s house in the first place?

According to Karl Rove in today’s Wall Street Journal, Trump discovered that “Epstein was poaching young female employees from Mar-a-Lago.” The emails that have appeared in the media say, Trump “knew about the girls,” and “asked her to stop.” That meant to stop luring children from Trump’s domain to Epstein’s.

Why Were Girls at Mar-a-Lago?

Now let’s put on our common-sense hats and ask why those children were employed at Mar-a-Lago in the first place. And what they were doing there?

The simple answer most reports, articles, and TV segments give is that they worked in the spa. Nothing to see there. Just move on, please. I looked a little deeper.

Their employment at Mar-a-Lago is certainly possible. Florida’s minimum age for employment is 14 – 15, depending on circumstances, such as the type of work and the environment. Children may work only in non-hazardous jobs such as retail, food service, and office work for up to three hours on school days and eight hours on non-school days. So far, so good.

Not Qualified Masseuses

These kids may be legal employees, but they are still children. At that age they could not qualify to do any “hands-on” work. They certainly could not be trained massage therapists, physical therapists, etc.

To qualify as a licensed massage therapist in Florida, you must be at least 18 years old or have earned a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).

This makes sense for a lot of reasons, the least of which is that children lack the strength to give real massages. Again, that’s just common sense. Therapeutic massage takes muscle along with knowledge of anatomy.

Also, we know from the survivors of Mr. Epstein, eighteen is when the girls aged out of being useful to him and his pedophile guests.

Could Children Do Other Things?

Could these kids have been carrying towels, stocking shelves, and serving ice water? Sure. But most resorts and spas have adults in these positions. They know the risks and dangers of putting children in proximity to naked men.

If you have never been in the spa of a resort or wellness center and don’t know this for sure, just watch any episode of The White Lotus. You will not see children in the spas and performing functions of any kind at those luxury resorts.

More Questions About Mar-a-Lago

So, what were those little girls doing in Trump’s spa?  And why did Ghislaine Maxwell have access to them? Did she know that beautiful female children were a specialty at Mar-a-Lago? Were they a lagniappe or an attraction? Did she book massages with them or just wander on down to check out the staff?

On the Mar-a-Lago website, the spa is listed among Amenities and labeled “Spa, Sports and Recreation.” Indeed.

No Credit for Trump

Contrary to Mr. Rove’s opinion, I give no credit to Trump for throwing Ms. Maxwell and her perverted boss out. After all, the current president the one who let them in to begin with. He’s the one who put them in danger of rape and abuse.

Ghislaine Maxwell certainly took advantage of the opportunity but the man who created that opportunity currently resides in the White House.
