Roundup of April 2021 Posts

April showers, May flowers, spring, gardenApril showers are supposed to bring May flowers but April was warm and dry this year in New England. What it brought was concerns about another summer without rain.

May appears to be making up for it, however. Today’s lovely gentle rain is soaking in to lawns and gardens, feeding the ponds and rivers, and stoking up the reservoirs.

The Outdoor Plant Sale

And speaking of gardens, the First Parish of Sudbury is holding an outdoor garden plant sale on May 22. We will be offering perennials, vines, wildflowers, ground covers, herbs, vegetables, and even some houseplants. All proceeds go to the upkeep of Sudbury’s historic Meetinghouse, which was built in 1797.

We refer to it as a Meetinghouse instead of a church because it originally served two purposes—as a town hall for conducting civil business and as a church. In the 18th century, the Puritan congregation who built the Meetinghouse held those two things as one and the same. The Meetinghouse held elections, lectures, tax collection, and regular town meetings as well as mandatory Sunday church services. Church functions and town government were not separated in Sudbury until 1836.

Historic Meetinghouse, First Parish of Sudbury, Plant Sale, Perennials, The largest contingent of militia that marched to confront the British Regulars at Concord Bridge on April 19, 1775, came from Sudbury. They gathered on the town green that was then, as now, the property of the Meetinghouse.

Roundup of April 2021 Posts

Susanne and I wrote about a lot of different things in April 2021. I branched out into a new area with posts about what ‘s happening on earth as well as in space. One post dealt with dinosaurs for the first time. Why? I just think so much science news that’s important or even just fascinating goes unreported. I decided to report on some of it.

I know, I know — everybody is Zoomed out after a year of staring at the screen. But this is your chance to catch up on something you may have missed. Without further ado, here’s the roundup of April 2021 posts on The Next Phase Blog.

Page Views and Spikes

alien, waving, spacesuitSome readers may wonder what posts on The Next Phase Blog generate the most interest and the most page views. I track all this information very carefully with Google Analytics and keep a rolling spreadsheet of page views by day, week and quarter.

I see the spikes in viewership over time, so I know that interest varies by topic and sometimes the swings are pretty wide. Also, I can tell you without any hesitation that page views go sky-high when I write about UFOs and UAPs. Why? I don’t know. But I think it’s very interesting. Let’s do more.
