A great big THANK YOU! to everyone who read my October 24 post and took the time to vote for Lovin’ Spoonfuls in Toyota’s 100 Cars for Good program..
I’m happy to report that our votes for Lovin’ Spoonfuls were successful. Toyota notified them last night that they won that day’s contest!
Lovin’ Spoonfuls will receive a brand-new Toyota Tundra, which they will convert to a refrigerated box truck to expand the reach of their food-rescue operations throughout the Greater Boston area.
Toyota’s 100 Cars for Good program is awarding 100 vehicles over the course of the next 50 days to 100 non-profit organizations based on votes from the public. While all the non-profit causes in the competition are worthy ones, Lovin’ Spoonfuls does two things that I really support: feeding hungry people and keeping good food from going to waste. They deliver wholesome food, some of it prepared by fine chefs, to food banks and shelters around Boston.
In their words, “Lovin’ Spoonfuls is an organization that facilitates the recovery and distribution of healthy, perishable food that would otherwise be discarded. Lovin’ Spoonfuls works efficiently to deliver this food directly to the community organizations and resources where it can have the greatest impact. Lovin’ Spoonfuls is committed to addressing the health, environmental and economic impact that food waste has on our community. Headquartered in Boston, MA, Lovin’ Spoonfuls is a 501c3, non-profit organization.”
Lovin Spoonfuls Ultimate Tailgate Party
Their annual Lovin’ Spoonfuls Ultimate Tailgate Party, a fundraising event, is being held on Saturday, November 10 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. on the lawn at Sam’s at Louis on Boston’s scenic waterfront. It will feature 16 of Boston’s “MVP” chefs cooking high-end versions of their favorite tailgate food, a silent auction emceed by Charlie Rose of City Year, entertainment and much more.
If you want an evening of good food and good company while contributing to a good cause, come on down.
And thanks again for supporting this great organization.
