• The William Blaxton house (1625): William Blaxton, or Blackstone, was an Anglican minister and the first British settler in Boston. He came here in 1623 with a group of settlers. When they returned to England, he stayed on the Shawmut Peninsula alone, on land that is now Boston Common. He, not the Puritans who arrived in 1630 was the first true Bostonian.
