About Susanne Skinner
Susanne is The Next Phase blog’s regular Monday author. She writes on a variety of topics from business to French macarons. If you like her posts, here is more detailed information about Susanne Skinner:
I am an event marketing professional by trade. I grew up in the heyday of the large corporation, spending 17 years at Digital Equipment Corporation in a variety of corporate marketing positions and office locations. It was the gilded age of technology and a wonderful ride. In the early 90’s, through no particular industry insight on my part, I went from a declining company with 100 thousand people to the dot com/start-up industry and a team of 35. It was alternately lucrative and unpredictable. The knowledge I gained from these experiences can plant me pretty much anywhere.
I recently joined a small (400 person) company with a collaborative culture and organizational stability – two things that are important to me. I manage a broad spectrum of programs and enjoy working in a company that reflects strong thought leadership and innovation.
After all these years, I still love what I do.
I am intellectually curious about everything and I’m a Leo. That means I have an opinion about everything and a burning desire to share it with anyone who will listen. I write about what interests me, what annoys me, what I know, and what I think I know. Personal experiences are great jumping off points for a blog post and you will find many of mine here. What began as a guest post for Aline turned into a weekly effort and the realization that I love to write. My posts are 98% serious and 2% tongue-in-cheek. Once in a while I might even do 10% — but you’ll have to hunt for it.
I’m a wife and mom; I work full time and live in an antique home out in the country. That’s a fancy way of saying really old house that’s a money pit, but we love it. We have two dachshunds and a big garden. I suffer from over commitment and the fear that we can never retire.
I love to cook, but baking is where my heart lies. In my next life I will live in a small town in the south of France and own a patisserie. I will also look like Juliette Binoche in Chocolat.
I have Superpowers, but I only use them to do good in the world.
